Fell Walking in the Lake District

From an easy stroll to Friars Crag - with the most amazing views across Derwent Water, just 10 minutes walk from Hillcrest22 - to the highest, roughest mountains in the country at the head of Borrowdale only 6 miles away, the choice is endless.

If you wish to leave the car in Keswick the local bus services up and down Borrowdale, The Borrowdale Bus (usually open topped) and the Honister Rambler - give the opportunity for A to B walks (e.g. Back to Keswick from Borrowdale,Honister or Buttermere) and the timetabled launch service on Derwent Water can save driving and parking.

Your hosts at Hillcrest22 know the area intimately and can advise on a walk suitable for your experience, equipment and available time. Pete has been involved with the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team for 20 years and a Search and Rescue Dog handler, along with being the National Park Area Ranger for the north of the National Park for over 20 years, so we can always offer you a range of possibilities and ideas.
